01Overview

Amplifikation Lancaster focuses on the chime and jangly character associated with the Vox AC30. Kuassa describes it as the fourth product in its guitar amp simulator line, built on its third generation of circuit modeling. The plugin combines three amp types drawn from different production eras of the AC30, so guitarists can move between raw early breakup, a fatter compressed tone, and a cleaner high-headroom sound within one instrument. Kuassa also says the amp can run both channels in parallel, similar to a jumpered AC30.

Amp Types and Tone Controls

Lancaster offers three amp models. Lancaster A is based on a late 2000s AC30 and breaks up early, with a raw, raucous sound. Lancaster B is based on a 1990s Limited Edition AC30 and is fatter and slightly compressed, thick with overdrive or distortion. Lancaster C is based on a modified 1970s AC30 and offers cleaner tones with plenty of headroom and a loud, jangly character.

The power amp section includes Sag and Bias controls. Low pass and high pass filters are included for shaping the signal, and a Range Master style treble booster is built in, modified to match the Lancaster tone.

Cabinets, Microphones and Miking

Five cabinet types use impulse responses taken from genuine Vox combo amps. Seven microphones are available: Shure SM57, Sennheiser MD421, Sennheiser MD441, C&T Naked Eye, Royer 121, AKG C414 and Neumann TLM103.

Dual-miking is freely adjustable, with mono or stereo configurations and a mix option, so you can set up a virtual recording session with two mics placed as you choose. A built-in noise gate and limiter are also included, and the plugin supports up to 8x oversampling.
