Subsonix is an expansion pack of 100 presets for BioTek, developed by Tracktion. The presets cover a wide range of Drum and Bass styles, from Jump Up and Neuro to Liquid, Hard, Old School and more jazz-leaning textures. The sound palette includes throbbing low end, keys, pads, atmospheric drones, FX, leads and distorted stabs. Because each preset is built around BioTek's XY pad, sounds can be shaped and morphed in real time. The pack requires a full version of BioTek 2 or BioTek 3.

XY Pad Control in BioTek

Each preset is designed to take advantage of BioTek's XY pad. Developer Tracktion says the presets are built to let sounds evolve and morph on demand, giving hands-on control over timbre during a performance or while recording automation.

Because the control is built into the presets, the XY pad becomes the main way to move through each sound rather than a secondary parameter. This suits producers who prefer to shape sounds gesturally instead of through menus.
