SSD Blackbird Expansion: Drum Samples for Steven Slate Drums

The Blackbird Drums expansion was recorded in three of Blackbird's classic rooms, including the chambers of rooms A and D. The developer says the sessions used a range of vintage microphones and outboard gear, along with classic drum kits spanning roughly fifty years.

Because the library draws on several rooms and kits, producers can choose between different room character and drum tone within the same expansion. Engineering was handled by John McBride, who also founded Blackbird.

The expansion covers the core parts of a drum kit. It includes 6 kick drum samples, 10 snare samples and 7 sets of toms, so you can build a kit around the kick and snare you prefer.

The cymbal and hi-hat content is available only in the Steven Slate Drums version: 2 hi-hats, 1 ride and 4 crashes. This makes the pack a useful addition for adding percussion and cymbal variety to an existing Steven Slate Drums kit.
