01Overview

Orchestral Contrabass 1 is built for composers who need a bass voice inside an orchestral mockup. It loads into Instrument X, the neural acoustics engine Dreamtonics provides, and renders performances locally on your computer. Notation can be entered directly or imported from MusicXML, so existing scores can move into a live performance setup with their tempos, time signatures, articulations and dynamics intact.

Articulations, Dynamics and Performance Control

The Unified Articulation Editor puts performance techniques in one interface, so staccato, legato and tenuto sit alongside instrument-specific techniques. Articulations can be stacked on a single note for hybrid textures.

Predictive dynamics map dynamics across an arrangement based on pitch, note duration and phrasing, and a manual override lane gives you direct control over the result. Automatic Smart Articulation handles part of the articulation choices as well.

AI Retakes generate alternative takes for a phrase, either for a whole section or for specific parameters such as timbre, micro-pitch and intensity.

Polyphony, Microphones and Unison Sections

Overlapping notes are rendered as separate voices rather than cutting each other off, which suits dense chords and contrapuntal lines written in a single track. Unison can stack up to 16 voices to turn a soloist into a section.

The microphone mixer lets you balance spot, tree and room microphone configurations to shape the stereo field and room reflections of the recording.
