01Overview

XILS V+ is built around a 10-band vocoder that can be layered with a Top Octave Divider oscillator, a strings section and a human voices section. Vocoder, Strings and Voices in One Plugin

XILS V+ combines three sound sources: a Top Octave Divider oscillator with up to 49 voices of polyphony, a strings section and a human voices section. The vocoder can use the internal sound generators as its carrier, or an external synth input routed through the plugin's side chain.

Each section is switched on or off from the main panel and follows the original keyboard split between upper and lower ranges. A built-in vibrato and an Ensemble chorus can be adjusted for the vocoder and voices, and the direct microphone input can be mixed in before the ensemble.

Advanced Controls and Modulation

Beyond the main panel, XILS V+ provides Mixer/ARP, Vocoder, Effects and Modulation pages. The mixer controls voice formants, the Top Octave Divider waveform and the strings filter shape, and offers polyphonic attack options for voices and strings. A legacy release mode resets the release on each new note, as on the original hardware.

The vocoder page includes an analog-like pitch tracker, analysis attack and release times, and a spectrum freeze that can be saved with a preset. The modulation section offers up to six assignable nodes, with up to 14 sources and 24 destinations, plus a monophonic LFO and a polyphonic envelope.
