Sound and Character of the x902 De-Esser
Antelope Audio describes the x902 as a transparent de-esser designed to reduce sibilance and high-frequency spikes without changing the overall timbre of the source. It uses frequency detection and dynamic reduction to target only the problem frequencies.
The plugin is modeled on a VCA design that the developer links to a module first introduced in the early 1980s and widely used in broadcast and recording studios. The emulation aims to bring that analog-style de-essing character into a software workflow.
