BAE-10DCF: Compressor and Limiter Plugin by Antelope Audio

The BAE-10DCF can keep compression transparent and smooth, or push the signal toward a more colorful, vintage response. Antelope Audio says it is based on the compression specs of the Neve 33609 combined with the Class A amplifier stage of the Neve 2254. The Carnhill and Jensen transformers used in the original hardware are described as measured and recreated in the digital domain.

A Gain Make-Up knob handles output level after compression, so you can match the processed signal to the original level while you adjust the sound.

The Recovery switches on both the compressor and limiter offer two automatic, program-dependent release times. Recovery A1 is listed at 100 ms for isolated peaks and 2 seconds for prolonged levels. Recovery A2 is listed at 50 ms for isolated peaks and 5 seconds for prolonged levels.

Antelope Audio suggests these settings suit modern music, where a single fixed release can work against a full mix. Combined with the Bypass Filter and the available Ratio and Attack options, the developer positions the plugin as a mix bus tool.

Antelope Audio names drums and percussion, vocals and rock guitars as key sources. For vocals, the developer says it can add urgency to dynamic pop and hip-hop performances while keeping clarity. On guitars, it is described as helping a track stand out in the mix.

The developer also lists recordists, producers, mastering engineers, podcasters and vloggers as intended users.
