01Overview

GRIT focuses on the rough, bark-heavy side of the electric piano. The sound is based on a rare, customized Wurlitzer 120 that UJAM recorded in detail, and the developer positions it for styles from 60s soul and 70s funk to 90s indie. Five characters, from Gentle to Gritty to Hyped, shape the tone. The Pianist engine plays chords and funky licks for you, while Instrument mode is available for players who want full manual control.

Sound and Character of the Wurlitzer Tone

GRIT is built from a single rare Wurlitzer 120 that UJAM describes as having a one-of-a-kind edge and bite. The developer says the instrument is recorded meticulously and offers a reed-based texture with a strong bark.

The five characters, Gentle, Gritty and Hyped among them, give you a range from smooth to aggressive without switching instruments. Mechanical noises are available as an added layer for extra dirt, and the finisher and ambience presets push the sound toward guitar-like riffs or dreamy indie chord beds.

Pianist Engine, Styles and Workflow

The Pianist engine is the core of the workflow. With a single key press, it plays rhythm pianist styles that add movement to a mix. The library includes 30 rhythm pianist styles, so you can change the feel of a progression quickly.

The 45 finishers and 45 ambience presets handle endings and space. You can also build your own progressions and rhythms if you want to go beyond the built-in patterns. Players who prefer to play by hand can use Instrument mode.

Which operating systems can run GRIT?

GRIT runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and on macOS Big Sur (11) and macOS Tahoe (26), including Intel and Apple silicon Macs.

What do I need to use GRIT?
