01Overview

Vektor 2 is built around the mix of analog synthesis and natural sound. Loot Audio combines modified classic analog synths with carefully recorded organic material, and the developer says the library is a brand new product with all new recordings, samples and snapshots. Each of its four sound sources can be shaped on its own, then blended in real time through a movement pad. The result is a set of sounds that move and change over time, suited to atmospheric and cinematic writing.

Analog and Organic Sound Design in Kontakt

Vektor 2 pairs layered analog-style synth sounds with recorded natural instruments and soundscapes. The library contains over 5.5GB of samples, including 1400 individual samples, and more than 140 instruments. Over 20 snapshots are included as starting points.

Each of the four sources has its own controls for pitch, pan, envelope, EQ, filter and level. Tuning covers plus or minus 36 semitones, and each source also has solo, power, random and reverse functions. Start and end sample points are adjustable, so you can shape exactly which part of a sample plays.

The Effects panel holds nine global effects, including chorus, reverb, delay, spatial, distortion, filter, phasis, flair and lofi, to add character to the final sound.

Movement, Modulation and Workflow

Vektor 2 has two manipulation pads. The Source Movement pad controls the gain distribution between the four sources, and the Filter Movement pad controls filter cutoff and resonance either across all sources or per source. Both pads offer horizontal, vertical and circular modulation units, with clockwise or counter-clockwise direction, and motion can be synced to your DAW tempo or run freely.

The Modulation Page includes four LFO modules and four envelope modules that can be assigned to multiple source parameters. Ten source movement presets and ten filter movement presets provide ready-made motion. A drag-and-drop function auto-maps your own samples into a source, with a loop feature.

The randomise function can target source voices, source filters, XY motion, XY filter, modulation, effects or everything at once, which is useful for generating new starting points quickly.
