01Overview

Loot Audio developed GAS as a synthesizer built from guitar sounds. Each sound in the library was recorded from electric guitars run through tape machines, effects and pedals. The developer says the team behind the BOCS instruments used similar equipment and methods. The Kontakt interface offers a range of controls, and the waveform blend function lets you combine and shape the sources.

Sound Character and Waveform Blending

GAS focuses on lo-fi, organic textures. The library includes 65 raw analog patches and 104 snapshot presets, covering pads, leads, keys and arpeggios. The developer notes that some sounds reference the work of artists such as Mogwai, Grails, Explosions in the Sky, Tame Impala, Deftones and Boards of Canada, while the instrument also has its own distinct character.

The waveform blend function is a central control. It lets you combine and blend the underlying sources in creative ways, and the Kontakt interface exposes many parameters for shaping the original sound.

Sequencer, Patterns and Integration

GAS includes an advanced step sequencer with a custom 32-step pattern engine. A pattern memoriser lets you load and save patterns, and an inbuilt pattern browser helps you find them. The library ships with 24 sequencer presets to start from.

The instrument also offers Komplete and Maschine integration, and its 2.1GB of raw sample data is stored in compressed .ncw format.
