01Overview

Chordscape is built around a tape-machine playback engine. Once it starts, it keeps running and lets you modulate and automate its parameters over time, which suits dark ambient soundscapes and other sound design work. The instrument ships with 8GB of sound design content drawn from acoustic instruments, field recordings, synthesizers and outboard effects, and it runs inside the full version of Kontakt.

Sound Sources, Modulation and Send Effects

Chordscape has four sound sources, each with 13 sound categories accessible through a pop-up browser. Mixer settings are retained per sound, so you can switch sounds without rebuilding your balance.

Nearly every control can be modulated over time. The pop-up modulation system offers between 4 and 128 steps per control, so you can build pulses, stepped sequences or long smooth progressions, with the speed set separately for each control.

Four Send FX slots each hold one of five effects. Every channel can send to every slot, which makes it quick to swap effects without reassigning them for each source.

Sequencers and Snapshots

A four-channel sequencer lets you sequence each sound source individually and snap each sequence to a scale. Chordscape includes 55 sequencer presets, and sequencer presets now load from disk. Each sequencer track has its own start and stop key switch.

The instrument includes 441 snapshots across ten categories: Dark, Emotive, Expansive, Leads, Leads (with pedals), Mechanical, Pads, Pulses, Risers and More, Sound Design, and Whimsical. Snapshots load faster than a collection of NKI files and are easier to organise and share.
