Ultra Analog VA-3 is a virtual analog synthesizer from Applied Acoustics Systems. It uses a two-oscillator-plus-filter arrangement, adds per-sound MIDI-controlled macros, and includes a multi-effects section. This upgrade is aimed at owners of Ultra Analog Session who want the VA-3 feature set. A full version of Ultra Analog VA-3 is also available from the developer. The plugin ships in VST2, AU, AAX, RTAS and Standalone formats for Windows and macOS.
The VA-3 combines two independent timbres, which can be stacked or split across the keyboard. Applied Acoustics Systems positions this for performance-friendly, textured and spacious sounds.
The filter section now includes a ladder-type low-pass filter, and the developer says the filters can handle extreme modulation while staying musical. Microtonal work is supported through Scala scale files and reference note frequency tuning.
The Home view maps four macros to modulation, timbre, envelope and effect characteristics, giving a focused view for browsing and tweaking. Each layer has four performance macros that respond to user-defined MIDI controls.
The browser organizes sounds by Packs, Sounds, Categories and Creators. The multi-effects module offers reverb, equalizer, compressor, tremolo and guitar amplifier processors, and its five effect slots can be reordered.
