01Overview

Transgressor 3 is built around a simple idea: a drum hit is made of a short attack followed by a longer sustain, and each part can be shaped separately. Instead of relying on one static EQ across the whole hit, you can boost or cut the attack and the sustain with their own equalizers. The developer also includes an adjustable transient detector, so you can control sensitivity and reduce false triggers from bleed. It is available as a plugin for Windows and macOS.

Independent Transient and Sustain Shaping

The core of Transgressor 3 is a hybrid transient designer with two 4-band equalizers, one for the transient and one for the sustain. Gain controls let you boost or remove the transient and the sustain independently, so you can raise the snap of a snare while leaving its ring alone, or reduce the boom of a kick tail without changing its attack.

Each equalizer offers selectable slopes, which gives you more control over how sharply the filters cut or boost. A mix knob adjusts the wet and dry signal, letting you blend the processed sound back with the original.

Detector Control and Sidechain Options

The transient detector is adjustable, so you can set its sensitivity to decide what counts as a transient. This helps when bleed from other instruments in a multitrack session causes false triggers.

The detector can be driven internally from the audio being processed, from an external sidechain, or from MIDI, which gives you another way to control which hits are treated as transients. Factory presets are included to help you get started.
