Articulations and Playing Techniques
Tongue samples a wide set of playing techniques, including finger strikes, mallet hits, mallet bounce, air vibration, muted notes, fingernail snaps and tonal scrapes, and tremolo. Three different tongue drums were recorded, and most articulations are shared across them.
The drums are arranged in an extended chromatic scale, so melodic lines can be played across the range. Scrapes, textures, loops and rhythmic material are also included for layering beyond the main notes.
The Overtone Steel Tongue Drum is also available in D minor, its natural tuning, which the developer describes as compatible with D-minor handpan parts.
