BOCS Bundle: Boards of Canada-Inspired Kontakt Instrument by Loot Audio

Loot Audio says the samples were made with sampling and recording methods similar to those used by Boards of Canada. The source material includes vintage analogue synths, 4-tracks, valve amps and VHS recorders.

The developer describes the result as dirty, dusty and dreamlike. That texture is the main reason to choose this library over a generic synth or pad collection. The sounds are also provided as WAV files, which the developer notes you can use in other applications.

Each of the 55 sample banks is split across two sound modules with a patch blend option. You can lower the volume on module 2 to play individual patches, or combine any two of the ten sample sounds.

For each blend, you can adjust volume, attack and release, or add a high-pass or low-pass filter. Modulation controls let you change any parameter over time, for example to create a slow filter sweep, control micro-tuning oscillation, or set the panning and oscillation speed of the analogue-style sounds.
