Sound Design and Signal Chain
Loot Audio says the choirs began as short pulses from a hand-configured analog signal generator, with pitch vibrato applied through its swept oscillator. The pulses were shaped into exponential ramps and passed through a passive triple L/C resonator to create the vocal formants.
From there the signal was buffered through vintage tube gear, then overdriven and equalized. Some multi-samples were further processed with an analog chorus. The developer notes that over 100 samples were captured note by note from this hand-built setup.
Some choirs were made by routing other sources through a rehoused Polymoog formant resonator section, and one was recorded to tape and resampled, adding further variety to the character of the set.
