Sound Design and Character
Loot Audio built the halo layer from several beating sine waves captured from a 1960s tube-based dual tone generator. Those tones were fed through the filter stages of a Minimoog with the filter set near resonance, then blended with the acoustic tines.
The result combines the plinking attack of real tines with a shimmering, mechanical backdrop. The motor and air brake recordings add texture beneath the notes, so the instrument reads as a full music box mechanism rather than a single sample set.
