01Overview

The Clap V2 is a clap sample instrument built for Kontakt and developed by Loot Audio. Its core idea is control over how many people are clapping. You can set anywhere from a single clap up to a group of thirteen, which lets you build everything from a sparse, dry hit to a dense, crowd-style clap. The instrument includes three clap variants, so you can pick the character of the articulation before shaping the sound to fit your track.

Clap Variants and Multi-Voice Control

The instrument offers three clap variants: Loose, Natural and Tight. Each variant has its own articulation, so you can match the clap to the feel of your groove. The machine clap section is set before the filter and each individual machine clap can be switched on or off, which makes it easy to combine voices and test different group sizes.

The number of claps ranges from 1 (C3) to 13 (C4), mapped across the keyboard. Layering a few voices gives a tighter, focused sound, while higher counts produce a wider, more crowded clap.

Sample Detail and Recording Approach

Each clap has five round-robin samples and is multi-sampled across four velocities. Round robins help prevent the repetitive, machine-gun effect that can appear when the same hit plays over and over, and the velocity layers let your playing change the intensity of each clap.

The developer states that the samples were recorded with close, stereo and room microphone techniques at Paper-Stone studios in Nottingham, England. The library uses Native Instruments .ncw lossless compression for faster loading.
