01Overview

The Blue Zone 01-25 Special Edition gathers the first 25 incremental releases of the Blue Zone series, originally issued one at a time as experimental electronic textures and instruments. Each instrument is presented with a basic subtractive synthesizer interface so you can shape the sound further. The package also adds 44 layered multis that blend textures from across the library, and it includes original demos and production notes that explain how many of the sounds were made.

Sound Character and Instrument Design

Loot Audio describes most of the sounds as created from scratch using unusual combinations of custom tube hybrid equipment, experimental analog circuits, tape delays, ring modulators, vintage analog gear and test equipment.

The textures are aimed mainly at ambient, new age and sound score genres. Each patch includes a basic subtractive synth interface, which gives you a starting point for editing filters and character without building a sound from zero. The 44 layered multis include several complex arpeggiated offerings that combine material from different releases.

What Is Included and How to Use It

The library ships with 1GB of 24-bit samples. Instruments and layered multis are prefixed with their release numbers, such as TBZ13 Area_13 "The One That Got Away" and TBZ25 Snow Flakes, so you can find sounds by release.

The documentation folder contains original demos for the first 25 releases in mp3 format, a 28-minute compilation of selected demos, a "Rogues Gallery" of much of the equipment used in the series, a production release note summary, and a list of instruments and layered multis with original release dates.
