01Overview

Molot GE is a modernized successor to Molot, a compressor first released in 2011 by Vladislav Goncharov. Tokyo Dawn Labs describes it as extending the original with greater flexibility and a more rock-oriented character. The plugin covers a wide range of compression colours, from gentle levelling to tighter dynamic control and more aggressive, vibrant compression. It is aimed at a broad set of sources, including drums, vocals, guitar and bass.

Compression character and tone shaping

Molot GE does not emulate a specific vintage unit. Instead, its behaviour is based on several classic compression mechanisms, with feedforward and feedback compression types available. Negative ratios, sidechain phase rotation and bit-crushing add more unusual colouration options.

A saturation section and a creative tone control let you shape the processed signal after compression. A dual-stage timing section gives control over auto-release behaviour, so you can adjust how the gain recovers between transients and sustained material.

Stereo control, limiting and workflow

For stereo material, Molot GE offers a crossover-based adjustable stereo link and an M/S mode with dedicated width controls. An analogue-style brick wall limiter handles peaks at the end of the chain.

The equal loudness bypass and equal loudness trim help you compare processed and unprocessed signals at matched loudness. Different quality modes include a zero-latency operation, and unlimited undo and redo supports quick experimentation.
