A Flute Sound Shaped by Tape Imperfection
KLANG recorded a flute through an analogue tape delay while changing the settings as the recording went on. The developer says this approach produced two layers: a calm one and a noisy one. Together they create a sound the developer calls Taped Flute.
The collection as a whole is built around the warmth, saturation and wow and flutter that come from playing instruments through tape gear. KLANG frames the series as a nostalgic take on tape, and the flute is the most melodic member of that approach. It suits producers looking for a lo-fi, textured melodic voice rather than a pristine orchestral flute.
