SynthMaster 3 organizes sound design around layers. Each layer can hold up to 16 modules, with generator modules including Basic, Additive, Vector, Wavetable, VAnalog, Granular and Modulator oscillators, plus effect modules such as digital, VAnalog, state variable, ladder and diode ladder filters, a waveshaper, comb, phaser and formant filters.

The Routing tab shows the signal flow visually, letting you add, remove, bypass or replace modules and create connections between them. Modulation is handled by up to 32 sources per layer, including ADSR and multistage envelopes, LFOs, a Step LFO, a Noise LFO and a Scaler.

SynthMaster 3 offers three views for editing. Layer View edits a single layer's parameters. Track View edits keyboard zones, velocity zones, voicing, unison, arpeggiator and sequencer settings across multiple layers. Mix View handles insert effects and effect sends for multiple layers.

Each layer has its own arpeggiator and sequencer, with random trigger, hold and slide values per step, and its own MIDI output channel for routing to different DAW tracks. The preset browser filters by product, author, bank, instrument type, attributes, styles and name, and the synth reads SynthMaster One and SynthMaster 2 presets.
