Secco transient envelope shaper plugin interface by Sequins

Secco: Transient Envelope Shaper for Drums by Sequins

Secco is a transient envelope shaper plugin for drums, percussion and loops. It gives each hit its own amplitude and filter envelope, so you can shorten hits and shape their brightness.

01Overview

Secco works on individual hits in a drum loop, percussion part or sampled break. Each hit gets an amplitude envelope that shortens it and a separate filter envelope that shapes how its brightness decays. The developer describes the tool as built to tighten loops in the way Ableton's Beats mode does, then extend that idea with more control. It runs as a plugin in VST3, AU and CLAP formats.

Best for

  • Tightening drum loops
  • Shortening hi-hats
  • Percussion shaping
  • Muted plucky grooves
  • Sidechain-triggered hits

What you get

  • Independent amplitude and filter envelopes per hit, each with length, hold and soften up to 30 ms
  • 12 or 24 dB/oct low-pass filter with resonance up to Q=4 and a Low Cut
  • Four trigger sources: transient detection, host-synced grid, audio sidechain and MIDI
  • Real-time swing for pushing hits off the grid
  • Chance sets 0-100% per hit, applied after the filter
  • Spread gives each surviving hit a random pan position, mono-safe
  • Expression maps MIDI velocity or sidechain to Volume, Amplitude, Filter and Resonance
  • Linked envelope lengths keep their ratio when you edit
  • Host-synced input and output waveform display
  • Light and dark interface that follows your system

Envelopes, filter and swing for tighter hits

Secco's amplitude envelope controls how long each hit sounds, with length, hold and soften adjustable up to 30 ms. The filter envelope runs on its own, so you can pull the top end off a hat or a snare tail without touching the body of the sound.

The filter is a 12 or 24 dB/oct low-pass with resonance up to Q=4, plus a Low Cut for clearing low-end buildup. Real-time swing lets you push hits off the grid while the loop plays, and the envelope lengths can be linked with one click so their ratio stays intact as you adjust them.

Trigger sources, chance and spread

Secco offers four trigger sources: transient detection with a minimum gap between 5 and 250 ms, a host-synced musical grid, an audio sidechain, and MIDI. Chance sets a 0 to 100 percent probability per hit, and it is applied after the filter so muted hits keep their tone.

Spread sends each surviving hit to a random pan position, up to full stereo width, and stays mono-safe. Expression lets MIDI velocity or a sidechain signal drive Volume, Amplitude, Filter and Resonance, each by -100 to +100 percent. The input and output waveforms are shown with the host timing, so you can see each hit before and after processing.
