01Overview

RUNA II: Cinematic Articulations is a sample-based Kontakt instrument from Wavelet Audio. It is presented as the follow-up to RUNA: Elder Scoring Strings, but it has its own sound and approach and does not require the first library. Most of its content is ready to play, so patches and tools can be dropped into a project and played right away. The library uses the same recording approach as RUNA, which the developer says is intended to make the two work together naturally.

Sound, articulations and phrases

RUNA II centers on nine cinematic articulations and phrase mapping across four octaves, with six variations per key. The flexible engine can be played directly or used to trigger phrases, and presets are included to get started quickly.

Two microphone channels, individual effects buses and master processing give control over tone and space. You can keep the sound close to its recorded character or shape it into a processed, cinematic texture. A gate sequencer adds rhythmic control over the playing.

Workflow, library contents and requirements

The package includes an FX Rack with presets, 386 snapshots and a separate WAV library of 387 raw and 378 sound design samples. The WAV library lets you use the material outside the Kontakt instrument.

RUNA II runs in Kontakt and also works with the free Kontakt Player. It requires NI Kontakt 8.1.0 or later, about 3.14 GB of hard drive space, and the library's 4.56 GB of original sample material. The audio is stored in 24-bit / 48 kHz lossless NCW format.
