Cabal 8: Full is built around a complete eight-string guitar recording, with every string sampled across the fretboard from the open string to the 24th fret. The instrument includes six primary articulations and two additional FX articulations, plus up and down picking, eight round robins per note and MIDI files. It offers two playing modes, one for real-time playing and one for detailed MIDI parts, so it can serve both quick sketches and fully programmed guitar lines.

Sound, Articulations and Realistic Playing

Cabal 8: Full covers the core techniques of heavy guitar writing. Its six primary articulations are Sustain, Palm Mute, Short Palm Mute, Harmonics, X-Note and Tappings, with FX Sustain and FX Palm Mute added for effect-style parts. Realistic vibrato and portamento algorithms shape how notes move between pitches, and portamento speed, start and end positions, and slide noises can all be adjusted.

Pick, fret, scratch and release noises are adjustable too, so you can dial in how much physical detail the performance carries. Up and down picking is included, and each note has eight round robins to reduce repetition.

Tuning, Routing and Mixing Controls

Each string can be tuned separately, which makes it possible to set the instrument to a wide range of guitar tunings. Strings can also be disabled, and the remaining strings take over the load where possible.

Level control is available per string and per articulation. You can equalize the whole instrument or a single articulation on one selected string. The articulation routing map can be configured to send articulations to specific buses, which helps when processing different parts of the performance separately.
