01Overview

Cabal 8 Elements: Crunch is the first chapter in the Cabal 8 Elements series and is part of Cabal 8 Full. It is designed to be loaded directly into Kontakt without a separate guitar processing chain or third-party tools. The instrument covers six primary articulations, including sustain, palm mute, harmonics, X-notes and tappings, plus two FX articulations. Wavelet Audio notes that the instrument is also built for up and down picking, giving riff programmers a practical set of performance options.

Crunch Guitar Sound and Articulations

Wavelet Audio describes Crunch as a powerful crunch sound for 8-string guitar. The instrument draws on more than 9800 hand-edited samples recorded at 48 kHz and 24-bit, giving producers a detailed source for heavy rhythm parts.

The core articulations are Sustain, Palm Mute, Short Palm Mute, Harmonics, X-Note and Tappings. Two additional FX articulations, FX Sustain and FX Palm Mute, add options for textures and effects-style phrases. Together they cover the main techniques used in heavy riffing and single-note lines.

Round Robins, Picking and MIDI Workflow

Each note includes 8 round robins, which cycle through different sample takes so repeated notes sound less mechanical. The instrument also supports up and down picking, so you can program downstrokes and upstrokes to match the feel of a played part.

MIDI is included with the instrument. Because the sound is delivered as a drag-and-drop Kontakt instrument, it can be added to a project and programmed without setting up a separate guitar processing stage.
