01Overview

Osmium Distortion Matrix is built around a modular signal path. Four distortion modules cover saturation, overdrive, wavefolding and bitcrushing, supported by dynamics, filters, EQ and creative effects. Input and output effect slots bracket a grid of nine slots, and you can route them to build complex distorted chains. Reason Studios describes the device as pairing the range of a multiband distortion with a modular core.

Multiband Distortion and Modulation

Osmium offers up to three frequency bands of processing, so you can distort one part of the signal while leaving another untouched. Reason Studios gives the example of distorting a bass while keeping the low end intact, or adding different effects to different bands.

The modulation matrix includes two LFOs, a curve sequencer, an envelope follower and CV control. These sources can move parameters over time, which suits evolving textures and rhythmic movement in distortion settings.

Routing, Patches and Reason Integration

The nine-slot matrix supports series, parallel and feedback routing, and the chain can be re-patched quickly. External effect loops let you bring any effect from the Reason Rack into Osmium's signal chain.

Osmium ships with more than 200 patches covering distortion, bitcrushing, speaker simulation, dynamics and destruction effects. It is designed to work within the Reason Rack, with built-in CV and modulation.
