01Overview

Origins Vol.10 combines two stringed instruments from neighboring regions. The Contrabass Panduri is a low-register instrument adapted from the traditional Panduri, and the Tanbur is a long-necked lute-like instrument with a distinctly Eastern voice. Each can be played individually, and the included Multi-Arpeggio-Designer lets you build interlocking patterns from both. The library is aimed at producers who want melodic or rhythmic material with a folk and Middle Eastern character.

Sound, Presets and the Multi-Arpeggio-Designer

The Multi-Arpeggio-Designer is the centerpiece of the instrument. Two fully customizable arpeggiators combine the timbres of the Contrabass Panduri and the Tanbur into interlocking patterns and broad soundscapes. Sonuscore says the engine is built to convey a musically meaningful, human performance rather than randomly aligned notes.

The library includes 80 rhythm presets, split into Normal presets with 4/4 arpeggios and Odd presets that explore time signatures such as 5/8, 7/8 and 3/4. Twelve color settings each carry different effect settings and impulse responses, and you can combine them freely for more variation.

Arpeggio designs can be copied and pasted between other instruments in the Origins series.

Workflow and Playing Tips

Sonuscore suggests transposing the Contrabass Panduri down 12 semitones to use it like a standard contrabass, with long, low plucks that carry the progression. The Tanbur works well higher on the fretboard, where its twangy drones can sparkle.

A practical approach is to hold a Tanbur note as a drone while playing melodic lines with the Contrabass Panduri and the other Tanbur notes. All controls, including the arpeggiators and effects grids, can be customized.
