01Overview

Lyrical Violin Phrases is the third release in Sonuscore's Lyrical Series. It focuses on solo violin phrases that cover melodic passages, ethnic-style phrases, double-stops, trills, and sul ponticello techniques. Each key press triggers a phrase, and you can adjust key, speed, length, and the order and connection of phrases. The library is built to run inside a full version of Kontakt, so it requires a host that the free Kontakt Player cannot provide.

Phrase Content and Playing Style

The library contains 310 phrases spread across 19 themes. Sonuscore says the phrases were recorded live and cover a range of styles, from melodic lines and ethnic phrases to double-string passages, trills, and sul ponticello. Each standard theme includes five phrases, and each phrase is split into a starting, middle, and end section. You can combine these parts in any order to build longer passages.

The developer credits two violinists, Veer Csongor and Sebastian Caspar, as the performers behind the recordings. Csongor's playing is described as a classical and Hollywood-style approach, and Caspar's as a technique and improvising style drawn from orchestral and film work.

Workflow, Controls and Legato Option

The interface follows the layout of Sonuscore's earlier Lyrical Cello Phrases instrument. Basic controls are placed up front, with deeper editing available for those who want it. A central speed knob adjusts timing, and the phrases were recorded to work across multiple tempi without a fixed meter.

Each theme includes two short end phrases, so you can close a passage and move to another. A legato solo instrument is also included for connecting phrases or building your own lines.
