Mosaic Tape is a hybrid instrument built around the sound of aged analogue tape. Heavyocity designed it as a palette for modern scoring, where signature sounds and hybrid elements often carry a cue. The instrument applies tape processing to strings, keys, tuned percussion and vocal pads, and the developer describes the results as textures with grit, warmth and personality. It is the fourth release in The Mosaic Series, whose instruments are meant to be layered into fuller textures.

Sound Character and Tape Processing

Mosaic Tape focuses on transforming familiar sources into textured, moving sounds. The library covers altered strings, gritty keys, tuned percussion and vocal pads, with the creative tape processing applied to each.

The instrument ships with 113 sources, including 23 orchestral, 30 keys and tuned percussion, 10 choir, 36 noise layer and 14 attack layer sources. These are drawn from 1,264 samples in total, which gives you building blocks for layered sound design.

Workflow: Snapshots, Engine and Controls

The library includes 106 snapshot presets and over 100 presets made by the Heavyocity team, so you can start from a finished sound and adjust it. The intuitive sample browser helps you move between sources.

The ARP builds rhythmic arpeggios, and the MACRO knob changes several parameters at once for dynamic movement. The Mosaic Engine layers sources across three channels, which is the main route to more complex combinations.
