Sound Sources and Layering
The core of Mosaic Pads is its library of 80 unique sources, split into 21 ethereal, 27 dirty, 10 decaying, 10 sweep and 12 noise layers. Each source is recorded as a set of samples, 1,699 in total, so the character of a patch depends on which material you place in each layer.
The three layers can be adjusted independently. Pairing a dirty source with an ethereal one, or stacking a sweep under a noise layer, produces textures that change as you tune each channel. The developer presents this layering as the main way to build a sound beyond the presets.
