01Overview

Modern Doom Drums is built around a large 26-inch kick, six snare drums and a set of toms, cymbals and rims recorded from specific drum models. Ugritone designed the kit for heavy, fuzzy and raw drum sounds in sludge, stoner and doom rock. The developer says Haldor Grunberg, known for his work with bands such as Behemoth and Dopelord, engineered and mixed the kit at Tall Pine Records in Poland. The package includes ten presets for quick starting points.

Kit Components and Drum Sound

The kit centers on a Ludwig Classic Maple 26x16 kick. The snare section offers six options: Cadeson Studio 14x5, Ludwig Supraphonic 14x5, Ludwig Acrolite 14x5, Ludwig Bronzephonic 14x6.5, and Premier Olympic 14x10.

The tom set includes Pearl Mastertone 10x8, 12x8 and 16x14, along with Ludwig Classic Maple 13x10 and 18x16. The cymbal selection covers Paiste Giant Beat hi-hats, ride and crash, Istanbul Agop and Zildjian crashes, a Wuhan China 26-inch, and a Zildjian Mega Bell.

Presets for Genre and Style

Ugritone includes ten presets to give a starting point for different styles. Five are credited to Haldor, including Typical Haldor, Haldor on Speed and Dirty Haldor. The other five are credited to Ron, including 1985 Metalshow, Back to 1977, Lethal Metal 2000, Revenge of the Crust Punk, Smells like 1992 and ZubrDoom.

The presets can be loaded and adjusted to fit a track, which helps when you want to see how a particular drum sound is built.
