Northern Artillery Drums is a virtual drum instrument aimed at metal producers. The developer, Ugritone, multi-sampled the kits using its own sampling engine, and the library includes two complete kits, several snares and an extensive cymbal set. Rolf Pilve performed the drums and Matias Kupiainen mixed them. The plugin has a simple interface with flexible routing and MIDI mapping options, so it fits into most home-studio drum programming setups.
The library is built around three kick drums and six snare drums, with two sets of five toms. The cymbal set is described as large, giving you a wide palette for crashes, rides and accents within a single instrument.
The drums come with 62 one-shot triggers, so you can program individual hits and build patterns note by note. Ugritone also includes seven hand-crafted presets as starting points.
The seven presets are named by style, including Fat Metal, Metalcore, Industrial and Netombed, along with three Northern Violence variations and Death to the Metal. They give you a starting sound per genre that you can then adjust.
Multiple routing and MIDI mapping options let you assign the sounds to your own drum map and set up individual outputs in your DAW. Rolf Pilve performed the parts and Matias Kupiainen mixed the library.
