01Overview

Loop Engine 2 is a successor to the multi-voice loop tools from W. A. Production, built on the chord-based workflow of the earlier CHORDS plugins. Instead of working only with static chord shapes, you shape MIDI loops with adjustable tonal and rhythmic controls. The developer describes the update as adding a Note Editor, a revised Poly feature and an AUX Notes function that inserts passing notes into chord transitions. It exports MIDI directly into your DAW for editing.

MIDI Loop Generation and Chord Control

Loop Engine 2 generates MIDI rather than audio, so the output is notes you can edit, re-voice and route to your own instruments. Its Loop View lets you adjust chord inversions, lengths, speeds and keys globally, then fine-tune individual chord shapes, inversions and velocity.

Chord Mode gives each chord a set of playback options for changing shapes and inversions. Tensions & Extensions offers 21 chord types, and the Create button draws from 30 chord types and tensions to generate new progressions. Simple Segments support up to 8 chord segments, each with 16 partitions.

Routing, Export and Presets

The Loop Engine Listener routes up to 8 MIDI parts to separate tracks, which is useful for building layered multi-track loops. Listener in this version offers three modes for managing AUX Notes output.

You can drag and drop finished patterns straight into your DAW. The plugin ships with categorized presets for chords, riffs and arpeggios, and the developer notes an expanded preset manager and automation for essential controls.
