LM1V is built as a low-distortion, multi-stage limiter. Mellowmuse says it aims for loud output without excessive pumping or artifacts.

The attack control ranges from 0 to 10 ms and the release from 0 to 2 seconds. Short attack and fast release settings push the limiter toward near-clipping behavior, while slower settings give gentler gain reduction.

Because the input gain runs from 0 to 20 dB and the output ceiling from -20 to 0 dB, you can set the drive and the final level independently.

The main controls are input gain, output ceiling, attack, release and stereo unlink. Stereo unlink lets the two channels be limited independently, while linked operation keeps the stereo image steady.
