Sound and character of the Klaviphon
Sampleson says the Klaviphon generates sound from reeds plucked by wooden hammers. The lower octaves carry the classic reed-based tone. In the upper register, the timbre shifts toward a kalimba-like sound, because the hammer strikes the reed edge from bottom to top.
Klavee applies real-time spectral transformations to the modeled instrument, giving the sound a flexible character while keeping the original tonal shape.
