Lo-Fi Delay Character and Tone Control
Inertia Sound Systems built Hinder on the BBD principle of operation, the same approach used by vintage bucket brigade delays. The developer exposes several design parameters that are normally fixed in hardware, so users can adjust them directly.
An overall tone control moves the sound between brighter and darker settings. The HEAT parameter acts on the resampling and feedback filters, moving the sound from clean to overdriven. Bit depth and quantisation artefacts can be mixed in, which adds grit to the repeats.
Feedback can be shaped with analog-modelled resonant lowpass and highpass filters, and a compressor in the feedback path with amount and speed controls. Combined with feedback and HEAT, this can produce everything from punchy repeats to noisy drones.
