Crypton Future Media positions it as the definitive edition of the virtual singer HATSUNE MIKU, building on earlier versions with a Power mode and a mild Whisper mode. Producers enter lyrics and melodies to generate singing in genres such as pop, dance, rock and ballads. The package also includes the Piapro Studio vocal editor.

Voice banks and vocal character

The voice bank is built from recordings by voice actress Saki Fujita, analyzed and edited into several vocal textures. Each bank has its own character and suggested tempo and range.

ORIGINAL is described for idol pop and dance-style pop. SOFT is a tamer, more elegant voice with adjustable softness, suited to soft rock, ballads and folk. SOLID is a tighter, stronger voice with adjustable tension for pop, rock and electro. DARK offers clearer breath effects for ballads, jazz and ambient material. SWEET is a breathy, whispery voice for French pop and electronica. ENGLISH is a bright, natural English singing voice for pop, ballads and jazz.

E.V.E.C. and expression controls

E.V.E.C. (Enhanced Voice Expression Control) adds detailed control over vowel expression, breath length and intensity, and pronunciation switching. Strong Pronunciation is described as pairing well with the VOCALOID4 Growl function for screaming voices, while Soft Pronunciation produces a breathier, quieter sound.

Voice Color lets you choose a louder, tenser vowel sound (Power) or a softer one (Soft). Voice Release controls the breath at the end of a word, with Breath-Long for languorous phrase endings and Breath-Short for smaller phrases. Cross Synthesis (morphing) and gender factor are also available within Piapro Studio.
