Groove Agent 6 Educational is Steinberg's drum-focused instrument plugin, offered in a version for educational users. Acoustic kits and layering tools

Groove Agent 6 includes five mix-ready acoustic drum kits played by session drummers. Steinberg sampled a range of kicks, toms and snares in different sizes and materials, adding 15 new kicks, eight toms and 24 snares for layering and replacement.

The new Punch Kit is built on a deeply sampled Tama Starclassic Bubinga kit with natural room ambience, and includes 25 presets with intros, outros and multiple groove variations. Color Punch adds 25 new Beat Agent kits aimed at modern pop production.

Pattern editor and workflow

The pattern editor assigns each pad its own lane, and built-in random and Euclidean step generators help with rhythm creation. The Mixer panel can be docked in the lower section of the interface or opened in its own window, so you can edit kits and mixer settings side by side.

The MediaBay is context-sensitive and filters results by Agent type, and a Sample tab gives access to Steinberg sample packs. Pitch analysis lets you tune drum samples to the key of your song with one click.
