01Overview

DV8 is a Kontakt instrument from Sound Yeti that combines wavetable synthesis with a modular-style signal chain. Its interface centers on macro controls, called Voltage and Flow, which change several sound parameters at once. Each preset loads its own set of DV8tion Modules, so the routing changes along with the sound. The instrument ships with 215 presets, 100 wavetable sources and two arpeggiators, and it is available as a VST2, AU, AAX or Standalone plugin, or as a Kontakt instrument.

Macro Control and Sound Design

DV8 is built around two macro systems. Voltage automates 10 sound-shaping parameters at the same time, and Flow controls ADSR shape changes. Together they let you move a sound from one character to another by turning a single control.

The Automated Structured Discovery feature randomizes parameters such as sound sources, arpeggiator patterns, DV8tion Modules and ADSR settings. This is useful when you want unexpected starting points. Wavetable position and form can be edited with LFO and envelope modulation, and 13 form types offer deviant wave-shaping options.

DV8tion Modules are the main routing feature. They connect to more than 100 parameters across the instrument, including filter cutoff, distortion drive, LFO speed, resonance and filter envelope.

Dual Arpeggiators and Effects

DV8 has two arpeggiators with fully independent patterns. Each one has programmable step velocity, a step count from 1 to 16, and a gate control for note length. The arpeggiators include 39 editable preset patterns plus one randomized pattern, along with stereo placement, swing, latch and octave range controls.

The built-in effects include a custom reverb with 20 environments, each with room and hall variations. The delay section offers 58 presets across five delay types, and the Sound Yeti Preset Recall System stores delay and reverb settings.
