01Overview

Drumbada focuses on polyrhythm. Its five sound-source groups each have independent controls for signature, speed, spread and accent, so you can build layered rhythmic patterns without working through complex programming. The sound source is the Bombo Legüero, a South American bass drum that Sampleson says has rarely been sampled in depth. Polyrhythmic Drum Engine and Crew Algorithm

Drumbada organizes its sound into five groups, each with three drummers, and every group has its own arpeggiator. Signature, speed, spread and accent can be adjusted for each group, which makes it practical to set up several rhythmic layers that interlock.

The Crew Algorithm is the feature Sampleson highlights for realism. It is designed to reproduce the timing and accent imperfections of 15 percussionists playing together. Timing can be adjusted per group, and accents can be shaped from subtle to strong hits, which helps the output avoid a rigid, grid-locked feel.

For programming, the mouse-drag control zone lets you change several parameters with one gesture, and the interface scales to HD and 4K displays.

The Bombo Legüero Sound and Round-Robin Samples

The Bombo Legüero is a bass drum from Latin American folklore. Its name comes from its reported volume, said to be audible from about six miles away. Drumbada builds its drum sound around this instrument.

The library includes an 8-round-robin Bombo Legüero drum, so repeated hits vary slightly in sample choice. This helps reduce the machine-gun effect when a pattern repeats many times.

The plugin is about 300 MB in size and is designed to keep CPU usage low.
