01Overview

DMC-12 is built around the sounds of classic digital drum machines from the 1980s, gathered into a single Kontakt instrument. Each of its 12 drum voices has its own sample, volume, pitch, pan, decay and EQ controls, plus random settings and send and insert effects. The instrument also includes a set of factory drum kits modeled on classic machines, along with eight user kit slots for your own combinations.

Sound Library and Drum Voice Controls

The DMC-12 library contains 460 classic digital drum sounds. Each of the 12 drum voices can be shaped with sample start, volume, pitch, pan, decay, EQ and random settings, so you can adjust tone and variation without leaving the instrument.

New samples can be added by drag and drop or loaded with the onboard sample browser, which lets you extend the kit beyond the included material. A mixer page gives basic sample and effects controls for all 12 drum sounds at once.

Effects, Sequencing and Workflow

The FX page covers six reverb modes, six delay models, a flanger, an overdrive and a compressor. Twelve programmable patterns can be chained into a song, and steps can be entered by clicking and dragging in a step-sequencer style or recorded in real time.

Swing and humanize percentages can be applied to patterns and songs, and single patterns can be exported as MIDI files for use in your host sequencer.
