Tonewheel Organ Sound and Rotary Cabinet
DB-33 is built around an AIR-proprietary vintage organ model that aims to reproduce the sound and playability of classic tonewheel instruments. The developer points to the B3 Style as the reference point, an organ associated with rock, soul and jazz recordings from the 1960s to the 1980s.
The package also includes an AIR-proprietary convolution rotary cabinet, which the developer describes as extra realistic. It is designed to be played through, so the organ and cabinet are presented as one sound. An AIR-proprietary tube overdrive emulation adds drive to the signal.
The rotary cabinet can be used on its own as an effect on an audio track, which makes it useful for processing sounds that are not organs.
