01Overview

Constellation: Apollo 203A is based on a 1976 Polymoog 203A synthesizer. Loot Audio captured more than 500 samples directly from the instrument's mix output, often one sample per key, rather than sampling it for a conventional virtual copy. The library also includes patches sampled from Loot Audio's SE Omega 8, which were run through an analog stereo chorus and a tube equalizer to blend the two instruments together.

Sound Source and Character

The instrument's sound comes from multi-sampled recordings of the Polymoog 203A's mix output, captured with a sample per key in many cases. Loot Audio's aim was to produce something distinct rather than a straightforward replica.

The Omega 8 patches were processed through an old analog stereo chorus unit and a tube equalizer before sampling, which adds a separate layer of coloration to part of the library. The library ships with 551 samples recorded at 24-bit resolution.

Layering Engine and Patch Options

Constellation: Apollo 203A uses a 4-voice layering engine with 24 multi-sampled voices available. Stephen Howell (Hollow Sun) and Mario Krušelj designed the interface, which includes independent velocity sensitivity controls on each channel.

Patches can be saved, and the package includes 32 demo patches and 16 demo multis to start from.
