Chromaphone 3 Upgrade from Chromaphone 1 or 2 is a synth plugin upgrade by Applied Acoustics Systems for existing owners of Chromaphone 1 or 2, adding the Chromaphone 3 feature set.
This upgrade is for users who already own Chromaphone 1 or 2. It brings the Chromaphone 3 feature set to an earlier installation: two-part multitimbral layering, four performance macros per layer, a new browser and an expanded multi-effects module. The instrument is built on eight physically modelled acoustic resonators, so sounds are shaped by resonator behavior rather than by conventional oscillators.
The synth is built on eight physically modelled acoustic resonators, including strings, plates, drumheads, membranes, beams, bars and tubes. You can mix and match them to recreate real instruments or design new ones.
Applied Acoustics Systems says Chromaphone is the first synthesizer to model coupling between resonators, capturing the two-way energy flow between them as in real instruments.
Two independent timbres can be stacked or split, allowing layered or divided performances. Each layer has four performance macros that respond to user-defined MIDI controls, covering modulation, timbre, envelope and effect morphing.
The Home view groups macros around key sound characteristics for quick browsing and tweaking. The new browser organizes sounds by Packs, Sounds, Categories and Creators.
Sound libraries can be converted by copying Chromaphone 2 banks into the Chromaphone 3 packs folder.
