How Cataract 2 Scans and Morphs Samples
Cataract is driven by your DAW clock. Unlike a traditional sample slicer that recalls markers within one audio file, it dynamically scans segments of up to four separate files, loaded across two Scanners.
The final stage is an XMOD crossfade module that blends the signals from the two Scanners. The developer describes this as morphing rather than a simple linear crossfade, since the cross-modulated XMOD LFO and Global Parameter Sequencer can produce more complex results. The crossfade can be modulated by its own LFO, the parameter sequencer or DAW automation.
