Eerie Textures Recorded From Barbed Wire
The core of Bowed Fences is raw material: a cello bow drawn across old barbed wire fences. Loot Audio says the recordings are deliberately harsh, and the bow was worn down during the sessions.
The instrument is organized into three main patches. The DRONES patch holds low, gritty material. The WHINES patch holds higher, scream-like sounds. The HITS patch contains metal fence poles and wire struck with the bow during recording. The HITS patch includes six unique hits, each with four round-robin variations.
These sources suit horror and sci-fi scores, where unsettling tones carry much of the mood.
