The sound of a vintage electric chime carillon
The Deagan Canto Chimes were built on arrays of carefully tuned chime rods. Each rod was amplified by a pickup coil and struck by a solenoid, with felt dampers controlling the decay. This mechanism gives the instrument its character: a bell-like tone with a clear, metallic attack and the electromechanical quality of an older amplified instrument.
Because the source is a physical instrument, the sound carries the imperfections and warmth of its original hardware. That makes it a useful option for producers looking for a chime or bell voice with a historical, mechanical feel instead of a clean digital tone.
