Sound and Character of the Crushed 808s

Future Audio Workshop says the presets were designed in-house to be among the heaviest distorted and compressed 808s in its catalog. The patches cover crunchy, buzzy and crushed tones, with names such as Granite, Petrol, Glass and Wreck pointing to the range from gritty to dirty.

Because the distortion is part of each preset, the sounds are meant to be used as finished starting points rather than raw sub tones. Producers who prefer to shape drive and compression themselves may still treat them as source material.

Using the Pack with SubLab

The pack is a collection of patches for SubLab, so it has no standalone use. Each of the 15 patches is listed by name, including Bolt From Blue, Dry Clean, Pushing Weight and Tru On Da Galaxy, giving a quick way to audition the range.

Future Audio Workshop states that its patch packs are NKS ready for Maschine and Komplete Kontrol, which allows the presets to be browsed from supported controllers.
