01Overview

Soulful Hip Hop is a Maschine expansion from Niche Audio aimed at producers who want a warm, moody starting point. The pack includes ethereal one-shot vocal hits, deep drones, pads, chord hits, drums, subliminal bass tones, stabs and FX. Each kit loads with MIDI patterns so you can hear the sounds in context right away. Niche Audio describes the patterns as mostly un-quantized, which it says adds a looser, human feel.

Sound and Character of the Samples

Niche Audio says the pack blends hip hop with influences from jazz, trip hop and post dubstep. The sound palette leans toward brooding melodic elements, including ethereal vocals, lush chords and drones alongside crunchy, fat drums and subliminal bass tones.

The pack contains 207 samples at 24-bit/44.1 kHz, along with one-shot drums, stabs and FX. Because the content is organized into groups and kits, it works as a sound source for building a track from scratch or for layering elements into an existing project.

Workflow in Maschine and Ableton Live

In Maschine, the pack provides 15 groups that are tagged and colour coded, plus 15 kits and 15 starter projects. In Ableton Live, you get 15 starter projects, 15 drum racks and 53 instrument racks.

The pack also includes 36 Massive presets, which can be tweaked to shape the sound further. Samples, FX, mix settings and patterns can all be changed, so the starter content can serve as a base rather than a finished arrangement.
